Same Spot different day

Monkeys off my back this year with a 1.17m king and a good size  snapper 67 cm

Both were caught in essentially the same spot with the same bait with and a larger kingfish dropped.

The snapper struck 5 minutes before the southerly hit

Both took about the same time to land 4 minutes with the King on 80 and the Snapper on 30lb

Love the speed of the 550

video to come 😳

Breaking the 1.0m drought.

Up well before sunrise to beat the hoards collecting lives from the local wharf.
Paddled out to the grounds then deployed live bait for two off 0.72m and one off 1.000m on the knocker, yellowtail kingfish.
6.85kg for the larger specimen.
Power boat came screaming over.....school disappeared.....Ahh, Sunday mornings.

Straight from the horse's mouth

Report from Steve -slightly edited :)

Water felt heaps colder today as I packed my wifes thermals. Dunno about vis as it was cloudy but I was back to the beach at 7.15am.

10 knots west wind, decent swell. Got in line with point x in ...9m of water.

Yakka was in for about 10 minutes. Got hit and turned it after the first run.

Came in easy until I almost had it at the the leader  then it went ballistic.

I locked it up and went hard on it but it was nowhere done and went closest to flipping the ski i've been during a fight. It went hard under the ski near the end.

3 blokes watching nearby yell out. Is it a bonito? WTF

Nice on Steve that is either 4 or 5 metres in a year ive lost count. Came in at 1.01m

Grasshopper this is getting embarrassing all these trophy fish

Exhibit C Species: Stonker  Pagrus Auratus

Caught: Long Reef on Live Bait

Weight: 8kg (record Sydney Kayak Fishing Snapper??)

Length: 86cm

Age: Approximately 20-40 years old (DPI NSW growth chart)

Anyway congrats on your 3rd trophy fish this year you are da man (2 metre kings and the snapper). Kicked everyones butt this year.  It was well deserved you put alot of time in sourcing live baits at all ungodly hours of the morning.

Just pity the old lady couldn't get you to open your eyes for the photo (nice background though)
